Burgei - Rongai
Go! International Outreach

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” 2Timothy 2:2
Burgei is a little settlement a few miles out of Rongai.
Many here are so desperately poor, they have nothing. No one owns a car; a few have bicycles. Their lives have been without worldly substance, but inside the willing hearts the Lord has raised up individuals who love Jesus Christ and have set their path to following Him.
Burgei Update January 2005

David Rono and Robert in the doorway of the staff house which is almost ready for the roof. |
Howard and Bonnie drove to Burgei in early January to investigate potential of famine, and to negotiate the completion of the staff house. Bonnie wrote: "In March and April they will be plowing and planting, for a hoped-for harvest in September. David’s farm is doing all right as he is right on the creek. But he said there are people around who are suffering. The areas of rain and drought are spotty, and there were two consecutive poor (or nil) harvest seasons, so people are without reserves. David said he had been having an ulcer, but was now better and expected to start teaching carpentry in February. Richard comes the first week of each month, I think. Robert has 7 computer students.... The house looks well built and nice, with good straight mud bricks which they will plaster with mud. The carpenter was constructing a “roof” for the verandah. He was using the slats of outer bark material that are cut off when they make boards and beams." |
The Burgei Bible School has been in the process of being prayed into existence for a long time. It is a sound structure built from the bricks they made from the red dirt on the property, water from the stream, and branches from the trees. (to heat and harden the bricks)
It is covered and smoothed with plaster and stucco; inside is a cement floor. In this little school room, people of the settlement of Burgei will learn Bible Theology, Carpentry, Computer and hopefully Tailoring.

The Burgei church (in background-right) has a small creek on the property, and the community has a bore hole to a fresh water spring. |

“…like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth its fruit in its season…” Psalms 1:3 |
This mound of earth was the beginning of the school they have prayed earnestly for and will make a significant difference in the lives of those who appreciate it. |
|
At present they have the original church, a cookhouse, the outhouse, and the 2 room school nearly complete. This is exciting for the members; as they have waited long and patiently for it. |

Theosophilus, (above with Howard) the patriarch of Burgei, is the head pastor, founder, and leader of the modest church. He studied to be a lay pastor and built the old church many years ago. |

"Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly; So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure;"
2Thess1:2,3,4
