We give all glory and praise to the Almighty God who opened for us the door that
we might reach His people both in Konoin district in Kericho and Ogembo in Kisii
with His word.

Starting at dawn on Saturday April 2 from the college, we took
our long journey in a hired 14-passenger Nissan matatu, and four with Rev.
Carlson in his vehicle.
After a long and tiresome journey over poor road, we reached Konoin and met with the Chekelyek local church members for prayer of thanksgiving for the journey, and for the work of winning souls that was ahead of us. |
Dividing our team of 17 into five groups, we went out to the environs of
five local churches, namely: Kapsiratet, Koroitik, Tebesonik, Ogembo, and
Mogogosiek. Each group made preparations for the Lord’s Day service of the
following morning. Some had long distances to walk, while others took taxis.
The Mogogosiek Report: Rev. Tonui, Rev. Carlson, Japheth, Joel, Kogalloh, James
Musyoki, Samuel Mutai and Molla remained at Chekelyek Church for Saturday night,
and preached Christ to a big crowd that had come. Rev. Carlson preached from I
Timothy 4:13, the importance of being a student of God’s word. Early Sunday
morning after breakfast and devotions, we started walking a far distance to the
newly opened church in Mogogosiek town.
Rev. Carlson preached to a congregation of over 400 from Jeremiah 33:1-3, the
importance of calling upon God, and the rest of the team testified. Many people
also came to the evening service to hear the preaching from Philippians 1:6.
On Monday this group divided, with Japheth, Samuel Mutai, Kogalloh, Joel, Molla,
Pastor Mark Tonui, David Kosgei and Wilfred Chepkwony remaining in Mogogosiek to
preach the good tidings to needy souls.

Dividing into three groups, we
concentrated on home visitation, and 32 people received Christ as their personal
Saviour. Japheth preached at the evening church fellowship. Tuesday we did the
same, and 37 people gave themselves to the Lord. Molla preached in the evening
from Genesis 12:1-6. We also visited Mogogosiek Baby Home, an orphanage, and
prayed with them and their matrons.
On Wednesday we shifted to Mogogosiek L.C.C. brand, and the three groups visited
12 homes and several people were saved. Heavy rain prevented an evening meeting.
Thursday we reached 12 families and 17 were converted. We attended the mid-week
fellowship at Mr. Samuel Ng’etich’s place, but heavy rain affected the
attendance. Friday we went on to the next church in the same branch. Three
groups visited nine homes, and several people were led to the Lord.

Saturday we met with the area youth at the Simoti Church. On Sunday we divided and preached in the three churches in that branch. In all the churches there was a good turn-out of the new converts. Glory, dominion and honour be unto our Almighty Father for the great and wonderful things that He bestowed, allowing us to witness to the lost, encourage the weak and share with our brethren in Konoin District. |
The Kisii Report: Monday morning, Rev. Carlson and James Musyoki drove from Mogogosiek to meet Rev. Bii and Mike, and together they formed a new team that drove three hours to Ogembo in Kisii. There, Pastor Kennedy Choti and members of his church joined us in prayer. That afternoon we concentrated on door to door visitation and roadside talk with the pedestrians. Many people came to know the Lord as their Saviour.

Sharing the Good News with a family working in the fields. |
One old man said to us,
“I know God has a father and
mother and their residence is in heaven; He is the father of us all.” We tried
to convince him, but he refused completely to accept our message. As we were
still sharing with that old man, many people came and gathered around us, and we
delivered to the Word of God. It did not return void, but accomplished its work
in the hearts of those who heard it. Four men were saved. Kisii is densely
populated, and we were able to enter many houses as the homes are not far apart.
A heavy downpour during dinner hindered us from going out again in the evening.

Women at the Well Enabling the women could take time to listen to the Word of God from Samuel M., Paul C filled their water containers at the bore hole. They all made professions of Christ as Saviour from sin. |
Tuesday these four divided into two groups, with Pastor Choti and one of his
elders joining each group. Rev. Carlson, Rev. Bii and Pastor Choti visited 18
homes in the morning, and eight people were saved. That afternoon Rev. Carlson
and Rev. Bii went on to Eldoret. James, Mike, and the elder visited 12 homes and
six souls were saved. Some were heard saying, “Many have come to preach in this
place, but not as these ones, for they teach, counsel, and answer various
questions.”
In the evening we went to the market for personal evangelism and
three people confessed their sins and received Christ as personal Saviour.
Again, rain prevented an evening service, but we sang and testified at the
pastor’s house.
Wednesday we visited 12 families, seeing some men drawn to Christ. We counseled
a family that had a marital problem, and the couple was happy, pledging to
forgive each other and above all they received the Lord Jesus as Saviour and
promised to join again with the church.
In the afternoon we went to the neighbouring village where we were warmly welcomed, and the word of God was
received with joy in the four families that we met.
Thursday was gloomy and muddy, but that did not hinder us from setting out early
and visiting eight families. The Lord touched the hearts of 12 people who gave
themselves to the Lord. Some other houses did not receive us, as the people were
Catholics and Seventh Day Adventists. In the afternoon we visited some church
members, sharing with them the Word of God.

Sharing the love of the Saviour with the local witch doctor who had rejected the Gospel and drove the evangelists away. |
On Friday Mike Otieno departed for his home, and James remained alone. He and
the pastor crossed the Kuja River to the next village and evangelized door to
door. Two families were converted, and we had good fellowship at one of the
elders’ homes where many people had come to listen. A teacher there invited us
to return Saturday and speak to some of his colleagues. During that day’s
visitation we were able to counsel and encourage those who had backslidden. On
Sunday James preached, and we had a blessed fellowship with new people coming in
great numbers.
The Kapsiratet Report: Rev. Yaban, Benson, Charles, and John worshipped on
Sunday at the Kapsebetet Church. The attendance was about 150; many got saved,
and they wished that we stayed longer. After the worship service we visited
three families, and Benson gave the word at an evening devotional attended by
friends and neighbours of the family.
Monday we went out in three groups, and 12 souls surrendered to the Lord. John
preached in the evening worship which was attended by many. On Tuesday our
evangelism was interrupted by heavy rains, so that we only managed to visit a
few homes. We then moved on to Kapsiratet, where we visited 29 homes on
Wednesday and saw six souls saved. John preached for the evening devotion which
was attended by varied denominations; many came to the Lord.
Thursday we traveled to Chemaan Church and fellowshipped with 37 members.
Charles gave the message and there was good response. John preached in the
evening in the home of Mr. Wilson Langat, and many surrendered to Christ.
On Friday we evangelized at least eight homes and the two souls who were saved were very happy and asked for our return there. We journeyed on to Kipkelok Church where we were warmly received, and Rev. Yaban preached; many came to Christ. Saturday, going in two groups, we visited 11 homes and three people were saved.

In the afternoon we taught two lessons: 1) church membership, by Benson; 2)
church growth, by Charles. John preached in the evening, and a good number
believed. Sunday each of us went to worship in different churches. The members
asked for prayer and requested another visit.
Tebesonik Report: Rev. Bii, Jacob, Mike, Joshua, and James Kitiluka reached
Tebesonik Saturday night and worshipped at Kibolgong AGUC where all the ten
district churches had gathered with over 400 people in attendance. Mike
preached, and after the service we visited an old member and encouraged him in
Christ. James Kitiluka gave the evening message in the home of Mr. Wilson Dur’s
home with about 50 people attending.

On Monday (after Rev. Bii and Mike left for Kisii) we started door to door evangelism and 13 people received Jesus Christ as Saviour. We had an open air meeting at Tebesonik Shopping Centre in the afternoon, with Kitiluka preaching, while Jacob preached that evening at Wilson’s home. After door to door preaching Tuesday morning, we went on to Kibolgong AGUC; many people in this area received Christ. Jacob preached in the evening. |
On Wednesday we went to Kiptenden AGUC,
evangelizing house to house; many got saved. As we preached, we met a sick man
who had been sick in bed for over ten years. He and his mother listened to the
preaching, and both received Christ and asked for prayer. We moved on to Kotik
Highlands in the tea estate, and fellowshipped in the homes of two church
members. Joshua preached to about 35 people. We returned to Tebesonik for an
open air crusade attended by about 200, where Joshua preached. That evening at
Pastor Wilson Rono’s home Jacob preached to over 70.
On Thursday we left Tebesonik area to Siongi AGUC, about 13 kilometers away.
Dividing into two groups, we had a hard time as it was raining; and also many
people, upon seeing us approaching their homes, ran away or hid. But by the end
of the exercise, 13 souls were reclaimed for the glory of God. Kitiluka preached
at the afternoon open-air meeting. On Friday we shifted our base from Joseph
Korir’s home to John Kipkoech at Tebesonik.

At the afternoon open-air crusade, the market
was flooded by people who were in a campaign for directors of the tea
factory. Taking advantage of the situation, Joshua preached. About 53
attended the evening meeting at Wilson’s home, where Kitiluka preached. Saturday morning we went in groups into villages, and 13 people were saved. Jacob preached at the open-air meeting at Tebesonik Centre that afternoon, and Kitiluka preached again at the evening fellowship at Wilson’s home, with over 100 people attending. On Sunday Kitiluka, Jacob and Joshua preached at the Siongi, Kiptenden, and Tibesonik AGUC churches, respectively. |
Observations: We encountered a doctrinal problem: what is the difference between Church of God and Church of Christ? Many people have alcohol addiction. Evangelism is still needed because many don’t go to church, and are Christian in name only. Sunday School teaching materials are lacking.

We give thanks and honour unto our God who
enabled us, provides for and strengthens us.
Our sincere gratitude goes to our faculty who were tirelessly praying for us, and to our principal, sponsors and every individual who has been of great help in prayer and provision. The work is still great; the field is still white.
