The FCB men on the road.

Greetings.

Hope you are doing well.
Our trip to Bomet was quite good. We were able to evangelise as far as God helped us.
We are grateful for over 500 people who confessed Christ during the mission.
We thank God for Go! International and for Raymond who was with our team to Menet.
Pray that God preservers those new converts. ...

... the evangelism report is stunning to me too. We emphasise to our students that they not try for cheap, easy-believism. You know Raymond would make sure that a rugged message of holiness would be given....Howard

Below is a full account written by Sammy Musili and Daniel Yabon, of their first tour for the year of 2004 - I could only fit a small segment in the newsletters, but felt some of the sponsors would enjoy reading it all.

Here at least is a brief but special letter from one of the churches our student evangelists went to in April (Bomet region).

Menet AGUC
Bomet
June 25, 2004

Receive greetings in Jesus name.  The pastor and the entire members of Menet
local church have pleasure to thank God for all what He did over the last
holiday, through His servants from Faith College of the Bible in our place.
They did a very great work, and now we have fruits; we really praise God.
We request that you may continue to pray for them as well as us, as we do
the same.

The church has been praying for you all, that the Lord may guide and provide
all your needs materially and spiritually.  Furthermore, the Lord may open
many ways for you, so that you may evangelize as it has been commanded in
the Scriptures (Matt. 28:19).

Lastly, we also request that as you arrange, you remember us.  You are very
much welcomed in our place.
Thanks, thanks, thanks a lot.  God be with you and meet all your needs in
due time.
Yours in Christ,
Menet AGUC            "Blessed is he who takes the Gospel."

Faith Evangelistic Team April Report
By Sammy Musili

We are grateful to God for His mercies, protection and the strength He gave us to proclaim His Word to the Bomet Area. We also thank God for GO! International for the support and prayers that enabled us to accomplish the April mission at Chebunyo and Menet Areas, both in Bomet District.

We started our journey to Bomet from the college on Friday, March 26, 2004. God granted us good journey mercies, and we arrived there at around 5 P.M. We divided ourselves into two groups: one to go up the mountains to Menet, and the other to proceed to the plains of Chebalungu.

Those who went to Chebalungu were: Richard Kirui, Japheth Mutuse, Joshua Simba, Silas Wanyonyi, Joel Ngeno and Sammy Musili of FCB; together with Stephen Kitulika, Peter Cheruiyot and Lonah Were of Bomet Bible Institute.

Those who went to Menet were: Rev. Dr. Raymond Carlson, James Musyoki, Daniel Yaban, John Mwendwa, Molla Dessie, Samuel Kogalloh, Benson Mwengi, and Paul Cheruiyot of FCB; together with other EACA students James Sigei and Samson Musili.

Those of us who went to Chebunyo of Chebalungu District left Bomet Bible Institute the morning of March 28 and arrived at John Sitiene’s home where they were hosted. We were well received by the leader of the Africa Gospel Unity Church (AGUC) in Labotiet District, where we spent Saturday night.

On Sunday we ministered to the following churches:

Chebunyo AGUC: Sammy Musili and Lonah Were
Chebitoik AGUC: Joshua Simba
Chepkoyet AGUC: Richard Kirui
Labotiet ABUC: Stephen Kitulika
Kataret AGUC: Silas Wanyonyi
Molinga AGUC: Joel Ngeno

The following day we went for personal evangelism in areas encompassing Chebunyo town, and later held an open air preaching in that town. Chebunyo is a big shopping centre where people from Bomet and Transmara Districts meet for trade.

We used the P.A. system from Labotiet AGUC to help us preach the Gospel to the market. We give glory to the Lord because many souls confessed Christ as their personal Savior in that market.

On Tuesday morning we left for Molinga, an area in Bomet District where we had time to preach the gospel in homes, roads and shopping centres. We then went to Chebunyo and spent a night in Gabriel Sawe’s home.

On Wednesday (March 31) we divided ourselves into two groups. Silas, Joel, Peter and Mutuse went to Kataret area and the rest went to Chebitoik. The team to Chebitoik proceeded to Transmara District and went to churches in Chepkoiyet, preached in Chemomiet and Kapchilyot Primary Schools, and Tumta and Chememet shopping centres .

The two groups met again at Labotiet AGUC, where we spent the rest of our days in reaching out to village schools and shopping centres. On April 3 we left for Gelegele, an area bordering Kisii, Transmara and Bomet Districts. There we attended a pre-wedding party of Patrick and Nancy, members of AGUC.

On Sunday, all members of AGUC in Labotiet District met for District Worship Service in Labotiet Church, and Japheth Mutuse delivered a message to the Lord’s flock. We thank the Lord for such wonderful fellowship which He gave us. After the service we went back to Bomet Bible Institute to meet the other team.

We must appreciate the hospitality of the church, the team work we did together walking long distances with them, talking and receiving encouragement in the Word of God.

The area we were ministering in was rough for us because of muddy roads and steep hills, which made some of us walk barefooted, and even crawl. Glory be to God for all the work we did for Him, as He strengthened us even to speak His word to the sick people, families in grief, people who had backslidden, and to Christian families.

Our observation in both areas was that the field is white and ready for harvesting, but the laborers are few (John 4:27-38). It is our prayer that God bless GO! International and the Carlsons for their support in this field, and bless the unity of EACA Bible colleges and Bible schools in this campaign. [This would be the end of Sammy’s Report.]

By Daniel Yabon:

The team that went up the hills of Menet area (Benson, Musyoki, Yaban, Mwendwa, Molla, Paul, Samson, James Sigei and Dr. Raymond) arrived at around 7 PM on March 26 and were hosted at the home of Mr. Richard Sigilai for that night before proceeding to our main area of evangelism. We were very much thankful to the Lord who enabled us.

The next morning we divided ourselves into two groups in order to take the word of salvation to different villages, schools and homes of Kipyosit area. We visited various homes, shopping centres and schools. In the evening we had an open air preaching at Kipyosit trading centre. On March 28 we divided ourselves amongst the churches of Kipyosit area.

Molla preached at Kipyosit local church, Paul Cheruiyot preached at Samoket, Benson preached at Lalakin and Samson and John Mwendwa traveled for a youth rally at Makitui local church. James Sigei, Raymond Carlson, and Samuel Kogalloh joined on Monday evening.

On Monday (March 29) we went down to Menet Church, which was our main area of evangelism. On arrival, we were received warmly by Barnabas Koech the pastor, with a few of his members. During the day we were able to visit a few church members near the church. In the evening after dinner we had a very blessed meeting with over three hundred people in attendance. Pastor Paul Cheruiyot preached from Isaiah 1:18-20, with a unique invitation.

On Tuesday morning we woke up at six, prayed, and Pastor Cheruiyot preached from Isaiah 56:6 and John 3:16. After breakfast we divided ourselves into two groups. The first group, which was being led by Pastor Barnabas Koech, went to Saparet village. We visited many homes and schools where numerous people accepted Christ as their personal Savior. We thanked God for such an opportunity to witness His word to His people.

The other group, which was being led by Rev. Daniel Yaban, went to Cheberbet village where also numerous people turned unto the Lord in repentance. We joined together in the evening and we had an open air preaching at a nearby shopping centre. In the evening Dr. Carlson delivered the message from Ephesians 5:1.

On Wednesday (March 31) God helped us as after breakfast we divided ourselves to go to various villages next to Menet Church. We reached many homes, shopping centres, schools and passersby with the Word of God. We went to a church known as Choronok, where we were received by Pastor John Langat and the church members.

After half an hour we divided ourselves into three groups to go to the neighboring villages. At Choronok we witnessed to many, and many received Christ. We visited various schools where we were being invited because the schools were closing for the Easter vacation. We were able to witness to parents, teachers and students.

We all met at Choronok local church at 2 PM for lunch, after which we went to witness to the nearby buying centre. There, through God’s providence, we found that the chief of Menet had called for a meeting, but the chief failed to show up and so his assistant received us to witness to a big crowd of people (almost 200). Rev. Carlson preached, being helped by Pastor Yaban, from Romans 13:11-14.

We went back to Menet Church where we were being hosted, tired and weary with the day’s activities. In the evening we had a wonderful meeting with a big congregation of almost 150 people. We were expecting more people to attend, but because there was a big downpour, many could not come.

On that evening Pastor Benson Mwengi preached from Revelation 20:11-15.

On April 1 we woke up as 6 AM, had morning devotions, and after breakfast we departed from the church to a village which was almost six kilometers away. On arrival we were received by the elders and members of that church.

After we had rested for a few minutes, we divided ourselves amongst the villages of that area where we witnessed both in the homes and streets, primary and secondary schools. God blessed His ministry mightily in that many were confessing their sins and turned unto the Lord.

After lunch we went to preach at Kirmwok shopping centre. James Musyoki preached there from Romans 5:12, and we saw numerous people coming to know the Lord Jesus Christ. In the evening, Pastor Samuel Kogalloh preached from Psalm 136:1 to a big crowd (over 600) of people who came to the church.

Daniel

On April 2 Rev. Yaban preached for morning devotions, after which we divided ourselves into three groups to go to neighboring villages. Many people responded positively, coming unto acknowledgment of the sins before our Lord Jesus Christ and Savior.

We praise the Lord for His mighty and wondrous deeds; for His free and full salvation given through the great gift of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ; for the great Name of names that transforms sinners into saints. Praise be unto His name.

In the evening the congregation that gathered at the church was over 400 people. Brother Samson Musili preached from Luke 16:19-31.

On April 3, James Musyoki, Samuel Kogalloh and Daniel Yaban went to Kipyosit while the rest of the team remained at Menet. At Kipyosit, James preached at the shopping centre, and in the evening Samuel preached at the church with almost 200 people in attendance.

On April 4 we all gathered at Menet Church where we had the District worship service, with almost 500 people attending. We had a wonderful service. James Musyoki delivered the message from Matthew 25:1-13. After the service we traveled back to Bomet to join with the other team.

We thank the Lord so much for His guidance and mercies, for enabling us to witness His word to His people at Bomet area. We are also very grateful for the GO! International for their prayers and support to the college students. May God bless you abundantly. [end of Daniel’s report]

"The students that went on the evangelistic safari to Menet and Chepalungu had great power and blessing as they ministered the Word." Raymond
