We thank the Lord so much for His provision all through the journey. We also thank our faculty for the prayers and support and especially our principal and his family for their much endeavors in support of the entire evangelistic team. Our watchword was in 2 Timothy 2:1, 2: “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, commit thou to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also.”

Benson Mwengi wrote:

"God’s mercies are great: through some mercies we were able to travel from college through Isabanis Kenyan border town through Sirare Tanzania to a place called Buemba where, with my colleagues, we preached the Word of God to the natives of the land; and I praise the Lord, for many turned from their sinful nature and confessed their faith in Christ.

Except that strong middle-aged man who testified clearly that he has never seen anything good since he was born having been done by “God”, and claimed that he has a great ‘god’ called Kyamungaro, where demonic initiations are done through offering of sacrifice, including animal and human blood sacrifices.

Although he refused to denounce his heathen worship, I still pray for him and others of his nature so that God may shine to them the way He shined to Saul of Tarsus, and change them."

After a colourful graduation exercise, the Faith Evangelistic Team started their journey from the college to the city of Nairobi where we boarded a night bus heading to Migori. The Lord helped us and granted us the journey mercies all through from Nairobi to Migori. We arrived at Migori at 4:00 a.m. We had a rest in a restaurant until 6:30 a.m. when Pastor Daniel Nanda, who was to collect us, came and took us to Migori Holy Trinity Church of Africa, which was a walking distance from the town. When we got to the church we took time to pray for the mission that was before us. The pastor invited us for the breakfast, after which we prepared ourselves for the worship service. Everyone looked so tired and sleepy because of the long journey.

Pastor, Kogalloh, James M, Lamu, Daniel, Paul, and Joshua S, in front.

Those who were in the team were: Richard Kirui, Sammy Kogalloh, Daniel Yaban, James Musyoki, Benson Mwengi, Paul Cheruiyot, Japheth Mutuse, Joel Ng’eno, Joshua Simba, John Mwendwa, Titus Kimwele, Sammy Musili, Samson Musili, James Kitulika, Elisha Akoo (principal of Kisumu Bible School), Lamu Imaidoi, Daniel Nanda (H.T.C.A. pastor), Daniel Mutunga.

Pastor Kirui preached during the worship service from the book of Exodus 33:17-23. After the worship service, Samuel Kogalloh and James Kitulika went to preach at Sonny Sugar Company, while some of the others went to the neighbouring villages to evangelize.

We thanked the Lord for His word which does not go out void, because some people were convinced and convicted to the confession of their sins and received Christ as their personal Saviour.

In the morning of Nov. 28th, 2004, some of us went to Migori to book for transportation, only that to be blocked by the taxis after they refused to take us to the border. They over-charged us and we refused, but we thanked our Lord for He touched the heart of one Nissan matatu, who agreed to take us with the normal prices. Rev. Elisha Akoo and Sammy Musili joined us in the very morning. We traveled from Migori to the border which was 20 Km. We went to clear up with the immigration offices both in Esebania Kenya and Esebania Tanzania. We had not much problem and we thanked the Lord who faithfully saw us through. While there at the immigration offices of Tanzania, Pastor Samuel Owino, who was to be our host in Tanzania, came and helped us with some documents, such as the invitation letter from the host church which were required. We boarded a Nissan matatu to take us to Buhemba which was 150 Km from the border. We arrived at the church where we were to be hosted for the rest of the days. We found many people at the church who were waiting to receive us. After the dinner, we went to the pastor’s home.

As the FCB Team prepares for the meeting, people begin to come to listen.

In the evening we went to proclaim the good tidings at Magunga market where a big crowd turned up to listen for the message. Pastor Daniel Mutunga preached. Two young men got saved. At night after the dinner, we had a fellowship with the church members and the neighbours who turned up in big number to hear the word of God.

The Tale of Kyamng’aro Hill
Kyamng’aro is a hill that is found in Mara Province. It is at the north of Mirwa village, and the people around it believe that it has Satanic powers. For instance, when one comes near it one could hear voices saying, “You stand where you are.” Then you stand and look to every side, you could not see the person who is talking to you. It is a hill where they go to take their sacrifices and rituals.

Wazanaki, the tribe that lives close to this hill, take this hill as a shrine. They also mine gold on the foot of this hill, which is used to appease their gods. The Wazanaki say that they could hear the devil speak in a loud voice saying, “Kyamng’aro, Kyamng’aro.” That is where they got the name Kyamng’aro.

In the evening, we had an open-air meeting outside the church.

Many people turned up to hear from the Word of God. Pastor James Musyoki preached from St. Luke 19:1-10. At night Pastor Benson Mwengi preached from the book of St. Luke 16:19-31.

Many people attended and a few people acknowledged the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. People were asking many questions about Christianity and especially what happens when a man dies. We explained to them using such texts as John 5:27-29.

On Tuesday, we woke up early and had our morning devotion, took our breakfast, divided ourselves into four groups of five and we set off for the great mission that was ahead of us. We started our work with some of the church elders who didn’t know what salvation was all about. One of them told us that he believed that attending church services is all salvation. And still another said that “Salvation is to be good and attend church services regularly.”

On Wednesday, we woke up at 6 a.m., had our morning devotion, and after the breakfast we divided ourselves into four groups of five people each. Some people went to the mines, where gold was being mined, to proclaim the good news to the miners. Several people got saved and even requested that we visit them in their respective homes. Some went from house to house, preaching and counseling.

On Friday, we woke early and had our morning devotions. We were invited to attend the funeral service where Pastor Elisha Akoo preached. After we had given our condolences, we divided ourselves among the villages neighbouring Magunga. Our mission for that day was concentrated from house to house.

Some people said that the word of God that is written in the Bible is only tales and tried to refuse it. Others tried to escape the evangelists because they thought they were soldiers. In some houses we found people drinking local brews and they could even refuse the word from being preached to them. But we thanked the Lord because not all refused to listen, and we had some people who received our Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. In the evening we went to preach at Magunga market. Pastor Sammy Musili preached from 2 Peter 3:1-9. Also here two people received Christ as their personal Saviour. At night we had prayers at the church and Pastor Lamu Imaidoi preached from the book of Colossians 3:1-4 and Matthew 6:33.

We concentrated our mission from house to house and many people were led to the knowledge of Christ as their personal Saviour.
People believed in various gods and fetishes; there were some who believed in the worship of ancestors; others worshipped mountains; but we thanked the Lord so much because when they heard the gospel, they were convicted and they believed in the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. One was telling some of our colleagues that before, they believed that Jesus was only a very good person and not the Son of God.

After the noon meals we went to preach at Magunga market. It was Pastor Mutuse’s turn to preach. Many people came and several people confessed their sins and received Christ as their personal Saviour.

On Thursday as usual, we woke up early in the morning and took time to pray and read the Scriptures. Afterwards we prepared ourselves for the mission that was before us that day. After the breakfast we divided ourselves into four groups of five people. Some went to a primary school where we had been invited by the head teacher to go and preach to the teachers and pupils. One teacher received the word in his heart with great joy. Others went to gold-mining places where they preached to the miners and several people were led to the knowledge of Christ.

In the evening, after our noon meals we had an open-air preaching at the Magunga market. Pastor James Kitulika preached. Three men received the word with gladness, acknowledging their sins. At night we had prayers at the church with the church members. WE also took time to testify. Samson Musili preached.

On Saturday it was a market day. After the morning prayers we went for personal evangelism, and several people received the word open-heartedly. Pastor Daniel Yaban and James Musyoki went to school where they taught in a seminar two lessons: Church Leadership and Elders of the Church respectively. In the evening Pastor Benson Mwengi and Sammy Musili preached at the market where many people heard the gospel and received Christ as their personal Saviour gladly. In the evening Pastor Daniel Nanda preached.

On Sunday we had the worship service at Buhemba Holy Trinity Church in Africa. Pastor Daniel Yaban preached from the book of 2 Corinthians 5:12-21. Many people came to hear the word of God. After the church we prepared ourselves and at 2:30 p.m. we started our long journey to the border where we had to board a night bus heading to Nairobi.
